Ignition Interlock Pilot Program for DUIs
As a Fresno DUI offender, you could be facing multiple consequences such as harsh penalties, license suspension, mandatory alcohol and/or drug programs, ankle monitoring, ignition interlock or even potential jail time.
A reputable DUI Attorney can not only help you get the best possible sentencing but can also provide you with the necessary information to make an informative decision regarding your specific case. One of the penalties of being arrested for a DUI in Fresno is to have an ignition interlock device installed into your vehicle. This device, commonly referred to as an “IID”, attaches to your steering wheel and requires that you blow into it so that it can check if any alcohol is on your breath.
As of July 2010, all first time DUI offenders in the Tulare, Alameda, Los Angeles and Sacramento Counties will be required to install an Ignition Interlock Device for a minimum of 5 months or 12 months if there was an injury. Second time DUI offenders will be required to keep the IID installed in their vehicles for a minimum 12 months as well as be eligible for a restricted license after 90 days of having the Ignition Interlock Device installed.
